Ali-Akbar Dehkhoda (1879–1956), whose name adorns our Foundation, devoted decades of his life to the Loghatnameh—his monumental encyclopedic Dictionary of the Persian Language—giving his time, energy, knowledge, and personal resources in service to the Persian language and its people. The graphic story shared here reveals that the same spirit of generosity shaped his everyday relationships with others. He treated people with empathy, humility, and kindness and remained ready to share what he had, even from a modest purse. His was truly a labor of love—expressed both through his extraordinary scholarly legacy and through simple, deeply human acts of generosity.
